Kanye West ‘dropped’ by more brands after his controversial statements

Casual clothing retailer Gap and athletic footwear retailer Foot Locker also turned their backs on rapper Kanye West on Tuesday, whose business and popularity have suffered a lot following his recent anti-Semitic and racist statements.

Gap, which in August ended its partnership with the rapper’s Yeezy brand, said in a note that it was pulling “YeezyGap products” from its stores and shutting down the line’s website in retaliation against its former partner, and called “anti-Semitism, racism and hatred in any form” “inexcusable.”

For its part, Foot Locker also announced the removal of Yeezy sneakers from its shelves and website, adding that it will not sell new products from the brand, stating that it “does not tolerate any form of anti-Semitism or hateful and discriminatory behavior.”

These measures follow Adidas’ high-profile breakup with Kanye West, who marketed Kanye’s listed Yeezy’s through the sporting goods giant, which has wiped 1.5 billion dollars off his fortune and dropped him from Forbes magazine’s list of billionaires.

According to a statement released Tuesday, Adidas “does not tolerate anti-Semitism or any other type of hate speech” and “Ye’s (Kanye West) recent statements and actions are unacceptable, hateful and dangerous.”
