Noah Cyrus Hated Hannah Montana And Her Sister’s Fame (But Not Miley Herself)

Noah Cyrus Hated Hannah Montana And Her Sister’s Fame (But Not Miley Herself)

Noah Cyrus wasn’t thrilled growing up in her sister’s shadow, but that doesn’t mean she blames Miley Cyrus for it.

Like other siblings of famous celebrities, Noah Cyrus originally made her debut with the subтιтle “Miley Cyrus’ little sister.” She more or less lived in someone’s spotlight for years, whether it was her dad Billy Ray Cyrus or Miley-turned-Hannah Montana. Noah is also many steps behind Miley in terms of building her net worth.

Things weren’t all bad, since Noah appeared on Hannah Montana back in the day in what was probably a loving gesture by her dad and sister. Yet her time in the spotlight wasn’t fun for Noah, and she later admitted how much she hated her sister’s fame and having to grow up in the spotlight because of it. That doesn’t mean she and Miley don’t get along, though.

Noah Cyrus Hated Being In The Spotlight As A Kid

The Cyrus family is majorly talented, so it’s not surprising that Noah decided to follow in their footsteps. Though she might technically fit the definition of a nepo baby because of her dad’s fame, Noah also had to contend with Miley’s far-reaching infamy, because she seems to have just as many fans as she does critics.

For Noah, that meant carving out her own path separate from Miley’s, but that’s easier said than done. First, Noah tried to hide from the spotlight, in fact. After her appearances on Hannah Montana, which spanned seven episodes in roles like “Little Girl” and “Girl with Ice Cream,” Noah had enough of Hollywood.

From the age of six, Noah told Paper Mag, people would ask about her sister’s fame and career. At the same time, celeb-watchers like Perez Hilton were dissing Miley and making fun of Noah at the same time.

All Of Noah Cyrus’ Music Is “About Mental Health In A Way”

In 2016, she decided to go public with her music, despite her manager (a close family friend) cautioning her against joining Miley in the public view. Before that, she had a “normal” life, Cyrus said, but she was sure she wanted to push her music out into the world.

That meant plenty of comparisons between her and Miley, and way too much interest in the family, too. The worst part of it, for Noah, was just the comparisons; “I’m not less than anybody. Miley has her platform, obviously, because she’s an amazing artist. But to each of us our own. Miley and I are completely different people.”

Do Noah And Miley Cyrus Get Along?

Given that Noah Cyrus wrote a song about growing up in Miley’s shadow, fans might ᴀssume she and her sister have some bad blood. It turned out that wasn’t the case at all, and Noah enjoys plenty of support from her big sis in all areas of life, including her career.

Calling her early life as “Miley’s little sister” “unbearable,” Noah referred to her song “Young and Sad,” which contains very specific lyrics that detail her childhood perspective.

Noah sings, “My sister’s like sunshine / Always bringing good light wherever she’ll go / And I was born to rain clouds / Blessed in her shadows.”

Pointing out that she probably wouldn’t talk about it again, Noah admitted she wanted people to know how it felt, and likely continues to feel, being ‘less than’ her sibling. Through it all, the Cyrus siblings have stuck together, and the fact that they share a management company also means they work together, too.

Neither sister posts about the other often, but for Noah’s 22nd birthday, Miley took to Instagram, with a selection of throwback pH๏τos of Noah, and wrote, “Happy birthday to the queen of my universe @noahcyrus coolest girl in the whole wide world 🦋 #22 #BFF”

While Miley can’t do anything about her “shadow” of fame encompᴀssing her sister, it seems she’s supporting Noah the best she can as the world starts to recognize her as a star in her own right.

Noah Credits Billy Ray Cyrus With Paving The Way For His Kids

As much as Miley is credited with helping her sister’s rise to fame, Noah is careful to give her dad the credit he deserves. She noted to Paper Mag, “I think that’s what the public forgets is that none of us would even know what the music world is without my dad.”

Of course, she added, “I look up to my sister, but when people ask me about following in someone’s footsteps, I’m following in my dad’s footsteps. He’s my hero. I want to ask him to sign my t-shirt, I’m his biggest fan.”
