She’s no longer buying herself flowers! Miley Cyrus confirms Maxx Morando is her new guy
It’s official at last: Miley Cyrus and drummer Maxx Morando are definitely an item.
After more than a year of rumours and speculation, Miley finally confirmed to British Vogue that she’s dating the drummer of the band Liily.
“We got put on a blind date,” she revealed. “Well, it was blind for me and not really for him. I thought, ‘The worst that can happen is I leave.’ ”
She’s even set a special ringtone on her phone for him: Tyrone by Erykah Badu. “I call that ‘boyfriend Sєxy ringtone’,” she says.
Miley (30) and Max (24) were first seen out together in 2021, walking the red carpet at the Gucci Love Parade fashion show. They were spotted again a few weeks later when the singer was filming the Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party in Miami.
“He was backstage with Miley and (comedian) Pete Davidson at the New Year’s Eve rehearsals and taping and having a good time with them,” an insider said at the time.
“They were all super friendly with one another and seemed to have a great night.”
Before the dating rumours began, Miley mentioned Maxx in an interview with Vogue in September 2021, praising his clothing design skills.
“This look is a one-of-a-kind collaboration between two of my favourite emerging artists, Maxx Morando and Shane Kastl,” she said of one of her outfits. A source close to the couple confirmed in March last year that they were in a “low-key” relationship.
Before this Miley’s longest romance was her on-again/off-again relationship with Australian actor Liam Hemsworth. The two began dating in 2009, were married in 2018 and divorced in 2020.
Fans have theorised that some of the songs on her latest album, Endless Summer Vacation, are about her relationship with Liam, but Miley says they’re not.
“I see myself as a novelist, weaving myriads of experiences into any given track,” she told Vogue.
“I wouldn’t erase my story or want it to be erased. Having an interesting life makes for interesting storytelling.” Maxx is also a songwriter and producer. He produced the track Handstand and co-produced Violet Chemistry on Miley’s newest album.
Despite their six-year age gap, Miley and Maxx have made their relationship work thanks to Maxx’s drama-free personality, which Miley finds refreshing, a source says.
“He has no interest in being a huge celebrity. He’s very low-key and Miley loves these qualities. Miley can be herself. They’re supportive of each other’s careers. Miley is enjoying life and things are great,” the source says.
The couple were most recently seen together in public at the Los Angeles Versace autumn/winter fashion show in March where they turned heads.
