Taylor Swift Reportedly Roasted Jack Antonoff During a 15-Minute Speech at His Wedding to Margaret Qualley

Antonoff and Qualley tied the knot on Long Beach Island, New Jersey, and Swift was among the many celebrities who attended the celebration.

When Margaret Qualley, Andie MacDowell’s daughter and Maid star, married Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff said on Long Beach Island, New Jersey, on August 19, 2023, they invited several celebrities to partake in the festivities. One of those stars who played a very special role in the affair was Taylor Swift. The “Lover” singer delivered a speech to honor the newlyweds at their reception, and, according to Page Six, it wasn’t just any speech. Insiders tell the outlet that the Grammy-winning artist spoke for 15 minutes, and she “roasted” the couple in a lighthearted, loving way. The sources explain that Swift’s toast included a joke about how she always thanks Jack, who frequently collaborates with her on her music, during her acceptance speeches at awards shows, but he never returns the favor.

The insiders tell the publication that many other members of the bride and groom’s family were speakers at the reception, including the bride’s mother and father, Andie MacDowell and Paul Qualley, and the groom’s parents, Shira Antonoff and Rick Antonoff. The couple’s siblings, Rainey Qualley, Justin Qualley, and Rachel Antonoff, also shared a few words, as did filmmaker Paul Downs Colaizzo.

For more than a decade, the Bleachers musician and the “Maroon” singer have developed a strong friendship. The publication reports that the two of them met in 2012 and worked together on many of Swift’s albums, including her latest one, “Midnights.” Both of them have produced award-winning work, with Jack taking home eight Grammys and Swift winning 12.

Swift’s wedding guest dress, a blue lace Erdem gown with a corset bodice and ruffles, also seemingly honored the groom on his big day. The color blue has typically been ᴀssociated with Swift’s 1989 era, which marked the beginning of her collaboration with Antonoff, People reports. For instance, the cover of the original album shows Swift donning a shirt featuring a blue sky and seagulls. She also mentions the color in one of the songs, “This Love,” which includes the lyrics, “Clear blue water/High tide came and brought you in.” Fans think the pop star intentionally wore the hue to support her long-time friend, per the outlet.

Many other celebrities also attended the weekend of events. Cara Delevingne, Channing Tatum, Zoë Kravitz, George Daniel, and Lana Del Rey were spotted in the crowd. According to Page Six, Del Rey performed one of her ballads, “Margaret,” for the couple’s first dance. The singer has previously revealed that the song, which features the groom’s band, Bleachers, is dedicated to the actress. “I was like, ‘You know what?’ I want to write a song for him,’” she told Interview Magazine. “It lands right in the middle of the album.” The tune is part of her ninth album, “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd,” which was released on March 24, 2023.

For their special day, Margaret and Jack kicked off the festivities on August 18, 2023, with a rehearsal dinner at Black Whale Bar & Fish House in Beach Haven, New Jersey, People reports. For the occasion, the bride sported a classic A-line dress with a scoop neckline, and Swift was pH๏τographed wearing a black tube top and maxi skirt. The following day, the bride and groom exchanged vows. PH๏τos obtained by the outlet show that Margaret wore a silk slip dress with a deep V-neck, while the groom was clad in a classic black suit. After the ceremony, the newlyweds celebrated at a reception, which reportedly included a tattoo artist, per Page Six.
