Trevor Noah says he wanted to ‘counsel’ Kanye West, not ‘cancel’ him… after the rapper was banned from performing at the Grammys after calling Noah a racial slur

Trevor Noah showed off his comedic chops when he addressed Kanye West’s ban from performing at the Grammy Awards in a tweet posted Sunday.

‘I said counsel Kanye not cancel Kanye,’ wrote the 38-year-old comedian following news that West, 44, had been pulled from the ceremony’s scheduled performances.

West was barred from playing the Grammy’s this year due to his harᴀssing posts directed at his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, 41, her boyfriend Pete Davidson, 28, and even Noah, whom he called a ‘k**n.’

Although Noah has publicly chastised the rapper for his behavior, a source close to the comedian told CNN on Sunday that he had nothing to do with West being yanked from the schedule.

They also claimed he had not been in communication with Grammys producers or the Recording Academy about West.

‘Trevor never asked the Grammys to ban Kanye from performing. He was not offended by Kanye’s Instagram post and Trevor responded on Instagram. The notion that Trevor or his team asked the Grammys to ban Kanye is ridiculous,’ the source said.

West was pulled from the Grammys performance lineup due to his ‘concerning online behavior,’ according to a representative for the artist who confirmed to Variety he was no longer performing at the annual awards show.

This week Kanye was suspended from Instagram for 24 hours for his posts about Pete and Trevor, which are said to have violated the site’s harᴀssment policy.

In an Instagram post he uploaded Friday evening, The Game theorized that Kanye’s alleged removal from the Grammys ‘could be’ related to the fact Trevor is hosting.

He wrote: ‘When will all the BLACK entertainers, Athletes, Actors, Producers, Writers, Directors, Media etc… figure it out,

‘Time & time again they show us that they only want to STEAL the culture, not allow you to ever be their equals. In a more than obvious move for reasons of minuscule actions…,’ The Game wrote in his caption.

The Game, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, wrote: ‘The Grammys have at the last minute decided to pull @kanyewest from performing on the show as if we didn’t know it was coming.’

He aired out his suspicion: ‘Could be because @trevornoah is hosting and there was a conversation held amongst his team & the academy that led to the decision or because Ye’s account was suspended just days ago for reasons unknown especially in a world where all the negativities of the world can be found on the same app with no repercussions or suspensions….’
