Kendall Jenner Takes Cues From Carrie Bradshaw in a Vintage Two-in-One Dress

Celebrities can’t get enough of vintage John Galliano right now. Amal Clooney wore a ɴuᴅᴇ lace and tulle dress from the designer’s fall 2000 collection for Dior in Venice earlier this month, while EmRata packed a monogram minidress from his Rastafari-inspired 2004 collection for London Fashion Week. Now, Kendall Jenner has become the latest A-lister to be won over by the allure of archival Galliano.

The model was spotted at Paris Fashion Week in a tailored grey dress from Galliano’s fall 1997 collection for his eponymous brand, sourced via Aralda Vintage. While on first glance it appears like she’s wearing a ruched blazer and matching pleated skirt, the two-in-one design adds a certain ease to the look. Paired with loafers and The Row’s Margaux bag, it’s a fashion-forward take on officewear that shows that Jenner means business in Paris this season.

If the dress looks familiar to you, it’s because Carrie Bradshaw’s vintage wedding suit in the Sex and the City movie features the same silhouette as the Galliano dress, albeit with a slightly longer hemline (similar to a look from Galliano’s 2008 resort collection). It’s not known if the film’s costume department worked with Galliano on the look, although Bradshaw famously wore the designer’s newspaper-print dress from Dior autumn/winter 2000 in the same movie, so it seems likely.

The ’90s Galliano dress is by no means the only vintage piece in Jenner’s collection: over the summer, the model was spotted in an Alaïa minidress from spring 1988, again sourced from Aralda Vintage. Both looks offer a twist on traditional office dress, with just the right amount of polish for Paris.
