Taylor Swift Arrives at the 2023 MTV VMAs in a Slinky Black Dress and Layers of Gold and Diamond Jewelry

Taylor Swift hit a career peak this year, thanks to her rerecorded “Taylor’s Version” albums and world-spanning Eras Tour. So naturally, she’s leading the nominees list at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.

To attend tonight’s award show, Swift dressed in her best hitmaker attire: a slinky black Versace dress and layers of gold and diamond jewelry. The little black dress featured an asymmetric neckline, ruched details, and golden ʙuттons throughout, including across the bodice. It also included a super high leg slit—very Reputation era. She paired it with strappy black sandals.

For jewelry, the pop star layered various golden chains and diamond choker necklaces of varying sizes; she also wore glimmering diamond cluster earrings and several bracelets and rings.

In line with her sultry black-and-gold look, Swift opted for inky black eye shadow, a dramatic cat eye, a glossy pink lip, a glittery golden manicure, and a wavy rocker hairdo.

Swift was nominated in 11 categories and took home nine awards: Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop, Video of the Year, Best Direction, Best Cinematography, and Best Visual Effects—all for “Anti Hero.” She also won Album of the Year for Midnights and Show of the Summer for her Eras Tour.

The other Artist of the Year nominees were SZA, Doja Cat, Karol G, Shakira, and Beyoncé. As for Song of the Year, she was up against Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers,” Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire,” Rema and Selena Gomez’s “Calm Down,” Sam Smith and Kim Petras’s “Unholy,” Steve Lacy’s “Bad Habit,” and SZA’s “Kill Bill.”
