Kendall Jenner Goes “Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy” Blonde for Fall

Model Kendall Jenner loves to give us a treat during fashion month. In 2022, the model surprised the world by going gingery red for the Prada Show in Milan—and the hair color skyrocketed into the biggest trend of the year. Just moments ago, she posted a selfie to Instagram and we got that same rush again, this time with a different hair color: Jenner is now officially a golden blonde courtesy of cool girl colorist Jenna Perry (the redheaded Perry also took her ginger).

Jenner going blonde is something that Vogue staffers had been speaking about in a hushed whisper for days. I was first approached at the Fashion for Our Future March last Friday with the intel—a coworker whispering in my ear and disappearing back into the crowd—and I’ve been on “Jenner Watch” ever since.

Would a stroll about the Guggenheim for the Alaïa show be the moment to display a new work of hair art? Apparently not, as my coworker Arden Fanning Andrews texted me from backstage with just two words: Still brunette. Same for her US Open appearance. Word began to circulate around the office about Jenner Watch, with some coworkers willingly joining in—sending promises of videos if they spotted her transformation—and others being looped into slacks that they (certainly) ignored.

Next came the Tory Burch show. Burch in Brooklyn? Big deal. And even though the model’s the face of the brand’s new Sublime scent, she didn’t make an appearance, brunette or otherwise. I started to dream in blonde, waiting for the moment she would reveal—or had she changed her mind? While on a work trip at Hotel Bel-Air, images of the world’s most famous blonde of all, Marilyn Monroe, taunted me in the halls. Until today, with the selfie reveal.

“It took me two days to take her this gorgeous shade of golden blonde,” Perry says. “She is really inspired by the ’90s and Caroline Bessette-Kennedy right now.” Perry adds that when making a major change like this in her Soho salon, Olaplex products are key to keeping hair healthy.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the model go blonde. She dyed her hair warm blonde for the 2019 Burberry show in London Fashion Week (her actual hair) but has also faked the look for Halloween as Pamela Anderson’s famous Barb from Barb Wire in 2020 and Marilyn Monroe in 2023.

Unlike her crew of beauty-adventurous sisters, Jenner isn’t really one to experiment with her hair or makeup, which makes this a big deal. And after all the brain power I’ve put into Jenner Watch, I guess my next question is…am I going blonde, too?
