Taylor Swift Layered a ‘Reputation’-Coded Plaid Corset Over Hot Pants at the MTV VMAs

For the second year in a row, Taylor Swift is the most-nominated artist of the evening at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. She is up for 12 awards total—including Song of the Summer and Artist of the Year—and if she wins just three, she could become the most-awarded female musician in VMAs history, beating Beyoncé‘s record of 25 awards. And with the stakes that high, it’s no wonder she showed up to the ceremony dressed like pop royalty.

On the red carpet, Swift emerged wearing a Reputation-coded black-and-yellow plaid corset gown from Christian Dior that was completely open in front, exposing her black H๏τ pants and a pair of thigh-high black leather Stuart Weitzman boots. She added a pair of matching black bondage-style fingerless gloves that laced all the way up her arms, as well as a choker necklace that was seemingly cut from a piece of fabric from her dress.

Beauty-wise, Swift sported a more subdued version of her signature red lip and finished off her glam with a super smoky eye and a bouncy blowout with bangs.

Last year, Swift attended the award show in a slinky black Versace dress that included an asymmetric neckline, a thigh-high slit, and a row of gold ʙuттons across her torso. She piled on layers of gold and diamond jewelry and finished off her look with strappy black sandals, ɴuᴅᴇ lips, and a sharp cat eye. Little did we know at the time, that it would be the first of many Reputation-coded outfits to come.
