‘I prefer not to talk about his private life’: Elsa Pataky shuts down a question about her brother-in-law Liam Hemsworth… after saying he ‘deserves much better’ than Miley Cyrus
Elsa Pataky refused to discuss her brother-in-law Liam Hemsworth‘s split from Miley Cyrus during an awkward moment on Sunrise on Wednesday.
Following an upbeat interview about her new fitness book, the 43-year-old wife of Chris Hemsworth politely shut down a question about the family matter.
It comes a week after Elsa was quoted as saying at a press conference in Madrid that Liam, 29, ‘deserves much better’ than Miley, 27.

Sunrise newsreader Natalie Barr broached the subject by asking: ‘Now, you recently spoke to Hola! magazine. Tell us, how is Liam doing?’
Elsa responded firmly: ‘Look, Liam is doing great. But I prefer not to talk about his private life. He is the one that has to talk about it.
‘But he is getting happier and he has his family to just go and stay with, his brothers and best friend. So that’s good, and he spent some time with us.’
Host Samantha Armytage then wrapped up the segment, saying: ‘That is good to hear. It is always lovely to see you. Merry Christmas if we don’t see you before it.’

Breaking her silence on Liam and Miley’s split at a press conference in Madrid last week, Elsa said that her brother-in-law ‘deserves much better’ than the singer.
‘My brother-in-law, well… after a relationship that you’ve dedicated ten years to, he’s a little bit down, but he’s coping well, he’s a strong boy and he deserves the best,’ she said, according to Hola! magazine.
‘I think he deserves much better.’

Speaking about Liam’s relationship with her husband, she added: ‘You always find support in your family, and he’s joined at the hip with [Chris], who has been there to give all the strength he needed.’
It was a surprising move from Elsa, who had been close friends with Miley during the pop star’s decade-long relationship with Liam.
The pair even got matching tattoos as a tribute to their friendship three years ago.

Miley and Elsa would often spend time together in Byron Bay, the coastal town in Australia where the Hemsworths own several properties.
They documented their various girls’ trips on Instagram, and appeared to share a close bond despite their 17-year age gap.
Miley and Liam announced their split in August, after just eight months of marriage.
She later embarked on a brief romance with U.S. reality star Kaitlynn Carter, but they broke up within a few weeks.
The Wrecking Ball hitmaker is now in a relationship with Australian musician Cody Simpson, 22.
Meanwhile, Liam is believed to be dating 22-year-old actress Maddison Brown.
