Cody Simpson reflects on dating his ‘first girlfriend’ Kylie Jenner at age 15 and meeting Kanye West for the first time: ‘As a young kid then, it was nuts’

Cody Simpson has been linked to a string of high-profile women over the years, including Miley Cyrus, Gigi Hadid, Bella Thorne and Stella Hudgens.

And the Gold Coast-raised singer, 25, has now revealed his first-ever girlfriend was in fact Kylie Jenner, whom he dated when he was just 15.

Speaking to Fitzy & Wippa on Friday, Cody explained he was chasing a pop career in LA when they first got together, and also recalled sitting next to a surprisingly ‘friendly’ and ‘normal’ Kanye West at dinner in New York City at about the same time.

‘So I ended up going to a dinner in New York and sitting next to him. I was, you know, 15 at that time. I’m sitting next to Kanye at this dinner. You know, he’s really nice.’

Cody revealed Kanye can be ‘quite intimidating when he’s not smiling’ but then ‘smiles really quick’ in a way that’s very disarming.

‘So he’s doing that and then he had those grills and he was telling me how he got his grills and that I should get grills,’ he continued.

‘He was friendly as and I was quite surprised at how normal it all was but yeah, I mean, as a young kid, then it was nuts.’

Elsewhere during the interview, Cody hinted he was single and focused solely on his swimming career and Olympic aspirations.

‘It’s been a little bit more mellow since coming home [to Australia]. And it’s hard with training to do too, you know, to deal with that. You know, especially if you’re trying to see someone that doesn’t do or doesn’t understand,’ he said.

It was revealed in January he had split from Belgian-American model Marloes Stevens, 28.

Sources revealed Cody’s dedication to his swimming career ultimately took priority over his personal life, with Marloes also said to be homesick and missing LA.

However, Marloes, who returned to the U.S. in mid-November, alluded to a not-so-amicable break-up in a series of cryptic messages on Instagram.

One note, posted on Cody’s birthday, read: ‘Fall in love with someone who will take care of you – not in a materialistic way, but rather, fall in love with someone who will take care of your soul.’
