Critics Choice Awards 2024: Billie Eilish joins brother Finneas O’Connell on red carpet – but pair miss out on award for Barbie song

Billie Eilish had her quirky fashion sense on display on Sunday as she joined brother Finneas O’Connell at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards in Santa Monica, California.

The 22-year-old pop star stood out in a bizarre black-and-white Thom Browne outfit that featured a spaghetti strap black corset over a floor-length white collared shirt.

Billie had her red and black hair parted down the middle and pulled back and completed her look with black heeled boots while accessorizing with small round sunglᴀsses and hoop earrings.

She was joined on the carpet at the Barker Hangar by her brothe, 26, who looked sharp in a tuxedo and black glᴀsses at the star-studded event.

Billie and Finneas were nominated for Best Song for their single What Was I Made For? from the Barbie soundtrack – but lost out to Ryan Gosling’s I’m Just Ken.

Billie was spotted at the awards ceremony catching up with fellow nominee Dua Lipa, 28, who was nominated for her Barbie song Dance The Night.

She also shared a moment with Spider-Man star Tom Holland, 27, at the event. Finneas and Billie previously won the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Song for their 2020 song No Time To Die for the James Bond film of the same name.

Billie and Finneas last week won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song for What Was I Made For? during a star-studded ceremony at The Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The acclaimed singer songwriter while accepting the Golden Globe Award credited her Barbie song for having ‘saved me a little bit’ during an especially difficult time.

Billie reflected on how she was feeling low when she first saw the movie and was asked to be part of the project.

Taking to the stage alongside her sibling, Billie said: ‘Thank you so much to the Golden Globes, I was not expecting this in this moment. ‘Thank you to my brother Finneas, you’re the reason I am who I am.

‘I wanna thank Greta and Noah for making this incredible film, I want to thank Margot for being the Margot we know and love I want to thank Mattel, and Interscope, my label, and Dark Room, and my incredible team, my managers and my mom. My mom, and my dad, and my brother again.

‘It was exactly a year ago almost that we were shown the movie I was very, very miserable and depressed at the time. And writing that song kind of saved me a little bit.

A year later, and here we are, and it’s really surreal. I feel incredibly, incredibly lucky and grateful.’ Comedian Chelsea Handler, 48, served as host for the event, which was broadcast live on The CW.

Barbie led this year’s film contenders, earning a whopping 18 nominations overall.

In addition to Best Picture, Best Comedy, and Best Hair and Makeup nods, the film racked up several acting nominations including Best Actress for Margot Robbie, Best Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling and Best Supporting Actress for America Ferrera.

Ariana Greenblatt was also up for Best Young Actor/Actress, and the cast garnered a Best Acting Ensemble nomination in addition to the song nominations.
