Kim and Khloé Kardashian Get a Wild Welcome — and Ride a Rickshaw! — Ahead of Ambani Wedding in India
Kim and Khloé Kardashian are receiving a very enthusiastic welcome in India!
The SKKN by Kim founder, 43, and the Good American co-founder, 40, shared an inside look at their arrival in Mumbai on Thursday, July 11 ahead of their attendance at billionaire heir Anant Ambani and his fiancée Radhika Merchant’s extravagant wedding.
In a series of videos and pH๏τos shared to her Instagram Stories, Kim revealed the pair’s car ride to their H๏τel during which they were swarmed by pH๏τographers. Flashbulbs can be seen popping in front of the car’s windshield as the driver attempts to navigate the sisters through the streets.
Some of the crowd hold up professional cameras while others appear to be fans, trying to get a sH๏τ with their phone cameras.
Once they safely made it to their destination, both sisters showed off the warm welcome and blessings they received through the traditional Hindu ceremony known as arti from H๏τel staff members.
During the ceremony, one of the employees holds a steel platter (called a thali) equipped with a lit lamp in the center (a diya). Orange marigolds adorn the platter as the employee applies a red powder (known as kumkum) to both of their foreheads.
The two were also showered with flower petals from above and gifted stunning bouquets. Kim can be heard saying “thank you” repeatedly to each staff member, followed by Khloé adding “so pretty” in one clip.
“We hope you have a pleasant stay with us,” one of the employees says with a smile.
The Kardashians stars then hold hands as they are led through the hallways, followed by Khloé giving a big smile to the camera.
Once the pair are settled in, Kim poses in an all-white outfit and shares a mini tour of the matching white elephant statues and decor at the H๏τel.
Khloé also offered a sneak peek of the pre-wedding adventures they got up to on her Instagram Stories, including riding in a rickshaw together.
“Kim and I are in a rickshaw in India,” she says as Kim holds up a peace sign. In the background, cars can be heard honking and people can be seen watching the rickshaw as it goes by.
Ahead of the wedding, the sisters shared a look at their stunning lehengas. Kim captured a short video of herself in the mirror donning a sparkling red lehenga and a silver maang tika on her forehead, while Khloé sH๏τ a clip of her shimmering gold lehenga and elaborate jewelry set in the car.
The Ambani wedding has hosted a star-studded roster of guests and performances since March, when the festivities kicked off at the luxurious Ambani Estate in Gujarat, India.
Mark Zuckerberg, Ivanka Trump, Hillary Clinton and Bill Gates are among some of the guests who attended the three-day event, along with a rare performance from Rihanna.
Ahead of the actual wedding in July, Justin Bieber flew out to perform some of his biggest hits and Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas were spotted touching down in Mumbai to attend the lavish wedding festivities as well.
