Kim Kardashian’s successful mobile game is shutting down almost a decade after its release. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star partnered with mobile gaming developer Glu to launch the тιтle in 2014. The game has already been removed from Apple’s App Store and Google’s Play Store. However, existing players will be able to use its features until April 8.

The game has also got a new timer that is counting down to its shutdown. Kim Kardashian: Hollywood allowed players to live out their A-list dreams by boosting their fame and climbing the social ladder. The game also included appearances from the 43-year-old and her family members Khloe Kardashian and Kris Jenner.

This free-to-play тιтle allowed players to purchase in-game currency K-stars to make a mark through events, modelling and dating. According to a report by US Magazine, the mobile тιтle overcame initial scepticism following its debut. The game was also reportedly able to earn more than $160 million.

Kim Kardashian: Hollywood was also named one of the 100 best games of the decade by gaming site Polygon. The site also described the тιтle as a model for “mobile games unapologetically tailored toward young women”.

What Kim Kardashian said about the game’s shutdown In a statement to BBC, the model-actor has confirmed the closure of the game. She said that she would “forever be inspired” by the game’s community. Kardashian said: “I’m so grateful from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has loved and played Kim Kardashian: Hollywood in the past 10 years.”.

She said making the game had “meant so much” to her but it was “time to focus that energy into other pᴀssions”. Electronic Arts which now owns Glu Mobile has yet to comment on the game’s shut down.
