Shakira Genius IQ: Mensa International Says Shakira Is A Genius

Shakira may make all the headlines for her voice and moves on stage, but the Sєxy Colombian also has the brains to back up her beauty and creative talent. According to MENSA International, the oldest high IQ society in the world, Shakira’s IQ of 140 makes her a literal genius, as anyone with an IQ higher than 139 is described as “almost geniuses.”

The UK-based society released a list of celebrities with IQs that were above average and it included: Madonna (140), Quentin Tarantino (160), James Woods (180), Reggie Jackson (160) and Steve Martin (142).

IQ tests have been used for centuries to determine intelligence and Mensa’s society is known for accepting members who are in the 98th percentile or higher, with the “objective of enjoying each other’s company and participating in a wide range of social and cultural activities.”

While IQ tests are the standard test for intelligence, members of the scientific community argue that the test do not accurately determine how intelligent an individual is. Last December a two-year online study by the Daily Telegraph and New Scientist looked at over 110,000 people to prove this belief.

“We can all think of people that have poor reasoning and brilliant memories, or fantastic language skills but aren’t so H๏τ at reasoning, and so on,” one of the paper’s authors Dr. Roger Highfield told The Telegraph. “Now once and for all we can say there is not a single measure such as IQ which captures all the intelligence that you see in people.”
