Taylor Swift Is Slithering Into Her Reputation Era Again — Every Stylish Easter Egg Hinting at Her Next Album

It’s our job to get all wrapped in the singer’s hidden messages, so we’re decoding every look referencing ‘Reputation (Taylor’s Version)’

Taylor Swift’s Reputation era is on the horizon again. Are you ready for it?

Since the re-release of 1989 this past October, Swifties have been piecing together the pop star’s Easter eggs hinting at her next album — and all roads seem to lead to the 2017 chart-topper.

The theory has picked up speed in recent months, with many of Swift’s going-out looks appearing to be inspired by the goth aesthetics and snake emblems of the original Reputation.

In her TIME 2023 Person of the Year cover story, the Grammy winner, 34, even revealed herself that Reputation (Taylor’s Version) is almost here, describing her forthcoming record as such: “It’s a goth-punk moment of female rage at being gaslit by an entire social structure.”

So, we put our detective glᴀsses on to decode Swift’s new Reputation outfits and all the fun hidden messages within them.

All of Swift’s past eras may have been recognized at the 2024 Golden Globes, where her concert film earned a nod for cinematic and box office achievement.

But, she decided to wear a snaky metallic green Gucci gown, covered in sequins that could be interpreted as scales, that screamed Reputation.

Fans even narrowed down the style clues to Swift’s donut-glazed nail extensions because they looked like talons, a rare manicure choice for the artist.

We were hoping she’d team the glittery set with the $63 Mazin snake ring she had on her finger during a girls’ night out with Selena Gomez, Sophie Turner, Gigi Hadid, Cara Delevingne and Brittany Mahomes (it’s giving “Bad Blood” girl squad!). But, her elegant De Beers accessories were a dazzling choice too.

For the 2023 VMAs, the “Cruel Summer” singer ditched her colorful Eras tour wardrobe for a daring black look.

Her Versace gown had Reputation written all over it, especially with its thigh-baring slit similar to the silhouette of the one-leg Robert Cavalli snake jumpsuit she wore to perform power hits like “Look What You Made Me Do” and “…Ready For It?” during her sold-out Eras concerts.

Even on her date nights with Travis Kelce, Swift has tapped into her edgiest era.

This particular look wasn’t a direct nod to Reputation, but more so the clothes she wore off-stage during that time.

One fan on X (formerly Twitter) declared the comeback of Swift’s “bleachella boots,” referring to the lace-ups she famously wore during her platinum blonde era, around the time she hosted the Met Gala and seemingly got inspiration for her song “Getaway Car.”

And during the couple’s rendezvous in New York City that same weekend, Swift rocked a black-on-black ‘fit that heralded Reputation’s return.

Going back to one of her favorite labels, she wore a Versace corset top designed with a rounded neckline and gold Medusa logo medallions on the straps (another snake-themed detail!)

Don’t put it past Swift to leave any blank spaces in her master plan either. Her Midnights music videos are riddled with a ton of costumes pulled from Reputation’s closet.

In the visuals for “Anti-Hero” she wears snakeskin-print boots and in “Karma,” she hisses her lyrics in slicked-bak hair, black lipstick and Versace Medusa necklace — all reminiscent of Reputation’s punk album cover.

And if you’re wondering when all this began. We think it started at the 2023 iHeart Radio Music Awards, where made the whole place shimmer in a bedazzled teal green Alexandre Vauthier look, which gave us flashbacks to her hooded bodysuit from the 2018 Reputation tour.

With the 2024 Grammys right around the corner, we can’t help but wonder if Swift has something up her sleeve. For now, we’re predicting she’ll go for a regal reptilian-gold to match the six trophies she’s up for.
