The 5 Weirdest PH๏τos From Taylor Swift’s Reputation Magazines
Taylor Swift’s latest album Reputation is out now, along with two glossy magazines that include pH๏τographs, lyrics, paintings, and poetry (Volume 1 and Volume 2 are both available at Target). Many of the pH๏τos are from the same professional shoots that produced the magazine covers, but there are also a ton of semi-candids that seem to have been taken in Taylor’s casual moments. Some of these show Taylor enjoying a glᴀss of wine or taking in some scenery, but a few are downright mysterious — why, for example, is she setting a chair on fire? Here, a brief list of the strangest pH๏τos in the Reputation magazines.
1. This pH๏τo of Taylor enjoying a lavish picnic all by herself. There’s at least one other person nearby taking the pH๏τo because this isn’t a selfie, but this image raises a number of important questions: (1) Who else attended this causal outdoor feast? (2) What kind of dip is on the vegetable plate? (3) Is this from a July 4 party Taylor just didn’t tell anyone about? (4) Did she actually put the camera on a timer and eat all this food by herself?
2. This pH๏τo of Olivia looking like she’s about to murder Taylor’s entire family. The single worst consequence of Taylor deleting her Instagram is the loss of that vast trove of cat pH๏τos she’d accumulated over the years, so it’s nice to see that Olivia is not only alive and well but also hiding in paper bags and plotting her revenge for the months when she had to pretend to like Calvin Harris.
3. This pH๏τo of Taylor enjoying a bonfire. At first glance this looks like a perfectly normal pH๏τo of Taylor enjoying a fall evening, but when you look closer you’ll see that she’s holding a stack of pH๏τographs in her hand. Is this Taylor’s reenactment of that scene in Clueless when Tai burned her box of Elton memories in Cher’s fireplace? And which memories is Taylor setting aflame here? See also: “Picture to Burn.”
4. This pH๏τo of possibly the same bonfire, but with a chair getting burned. What did this chair ever do to deserve this?
5. This pH๏τo of Taylor cooking. What is she making here? Meringue? Baked eggs? I may never know, but I do know I’m getting old because the thing I most care about in this picture is the Le Creuset cookware. Taylor’s got good taste in home goods.
Bonus: This pH๏τo of Taylor playing Scrabble. There’s nothing weird about Scrabble, but I put this here because it caused me to spend a good five minutes thinking about what kind of Scrabble player Taylor is. Do you think she’s the type who likes to build long, unusual words to show off her complex vocabulary? Or do you think she’s a stone-cold killer who’s memorized every playable two- and three-letter word so she can hit everybody else with the multiple-word-in-one-turn sneak attack? My guess is the second one, because that’s how a real Scrabble master operates.
