Jung Kook Matches Miley Cyrus As Fans Keep Buying His Latest Single

Jung Kook’s music career is on something of a break at the moment, as he recently enlisted in the South Korean military. The singer may be otherwise preoccupied, but the music he released in the latter half of 2023 is still performing very well on the Billboard charts. His newest single is still going strong, and this week, it helps him match with another superstar in a major way.

This week’s Digital Song Sales chart—Billboard’s ranking of the bestselling tracks in the U.S.—is dominated by Jung Kook. The BTS member’s current single “Standing Next To You” returns to the No. 1 spot on the purchase-focused roster for another turn in charge.

“Standing Next To You” has now ruled the Digital Song Sales chart for five weeks throughout 2023. Those turns atop the tally were not all in a row, as the cut has taken several breaks from the throne as other stars stepped in to run the show. Jung Kook keeps returning to the summit, and now his single has reached a notable milestone.

Jung Kook’s latest smash is now tied with Miley Cyrus’s “Flowers” for the most frames at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart. The two tunes both managed five turns in first place on the purchase-only tally. They will end 2023 evenly matched, as the next chart frame will be dated in January 2024.

Last frame, “Standing Next To You” was down at No. 2 on the Digital Song Sales chart. It was pushed out of the spotlight by Jack Harlow’s new single “Lovin on Me.” Now, that cut drops to third place. Coincidentally, the two musicians landed a sales No. 1 earlier this year together with their collaboration “3D,” which ruled for two frames in October.

“Standing Next To You” opened at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart in mid-November. The track sold an impressive 84,000 copies in its first frame of availability. It arrived atop the tally the same week that the album it’s featured on, Golden, hit the Billboard lists as well. All those purchases helped Jung Kook earn his third consecutive top 10 smash on the Hot 100 with “Standing Next To You.”
