Kendall Adds Barely-There Sandals To A Barely-There Dress

The autumn/winter 2023 runways were awash with quiet luxury staples, with brands like Alexander McQueen and Victoria Beckham championing neutral, pared-back wardrobe essentials. However, when it comes to the It-girls, sheer dresses that leave little to the imagination continue to reign for the red carpet. Kendall Jenner’s most recent choice? The model opted for a form-fitting naked dress.

At Revolve’s 20th Anniversary Dinner in Beverly Hills this week, the model and 818 tequila founder turned heads in an ivory Alaïa midi-dress from the brand’s spring 2023 collection with sheer cut-out panels down the sides and a tunic neck (the ruching mimics anatomical skeleton-like details). Kendall accessorised the outfit with a cream leather mini 90S bag from The Row and strappy white leather sandals.

Earlier this year, KJ was spotted in another look from the Paris fashion house (founded by the late, legendary Azzedine Alaïa, who was beloved by the likes of Iman, Naomi Campbell and Grace Jones). In January, the model candidly posed on her bed while wearing a black asymmetrical jumpsuit from autumn 2022, featuring a cascading flamenco detail on one leg.

Kendall has yet to dip into the Alaïa archive for a public appearance, unlike her sisters Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner (Kim previously wore a head-to-toe leopard print look from the brand’s autumn/winter 1991 collection, while Kylie opted for a spring/summer 1987 shearling coat on the famous family’s trip to Aspen last winter). Perhaps Jenner is gradually transitioning towards her Alaïa era of fashion. As another California heiress famously said in Clueless: “It’s, like, a totally important designer.”
