KENDALL JENNER, INSTAGIRL, REVEALS WHY SHE QUIT INSTAGRAM

“It’s so crazy to me that it even became huge news like that.”

Two days, ago Kendall Jenner temporarily signed off from Instagram. Because it’s 2016, and her following on the platform plays a huge role in how she makes her living, this made front-page news everywhere. There were the usual suspects — E!, People — but news of the 21-year old model deleting the app was covered ubiquitously online. We covered the announcement, along with other outlets including Vogue, Elle, Complex and even CNN. (We’ll let that last one sink in for a bit.) “It’s so crazy to me that it even became huge news like that. Like, I have no idea how that happened. I guess I didn’t expect it,” said Jenner on Tuesday’s episode of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” where she explained that she needed a “detox” from the social-media platform. “I’m always on it,” she continued. “I would wake up in the morning and look at it first thing; I would go to bed and it was the last thing I would look at. I felt a little too dependent on it.”

Which brings us to the real question — and borrowing the style of the iconic Weekend Update segment (and Fashionista HQ favorite) “Really?!” — really, Kendall Jenner? You have almost 70 million Instagram followers and you didn’t expect people to make a big deal? The cover lines on multiple international editions of Vogue have made a point of highlighting your “Instagirl” status, and in today’s digital landscape, it’s undeniable that social media is a huge part of your impressive modeling career. You also have the most liked Instagram post of all time. All that considered, are you really shocked to see people talking about it? Really?
