The Amador-El Dorado Unit of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire) got a special visit from two famous media personalities last week.

On Thursday, Aug. 29, sisters Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner met with Crew 3, Crew 5 and the Pine Grove Youth Conservation Camp atGrowlersburg Conservation Camp #33 in Georgetown to learn more about the program and to show support for what they do.Georgetown is a small town, located about an hour east of Sacramento in El Dorado County.

Cal Fire officials said Growlersburg Camp is jointly operated by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and Cal Fire to support local, state and federal agencies as they respond to emergencies like wildfires and floods. Growlersburg hand crews complete community service and conservation projects year-round.

According to Cal Fire, the program provides the opportunity for incarcerated people to serve as firefighters and pursue careers in firefighting after they are released.
