Kim Kardashian gets compared to Shrek’s Lord Farquaad and Johnny Depp’s Willy Wonka as social media users poke fun at her new bob: ‘Run for your life Augustus Gloop’
Kim Kardashian got a serious roasting on social media in recent days after debuting a new hairdo.
She unknowingly set off the mockery on Monday when she unveiled a new raven blunt-cut bob in a clip posted to Instagram that showed her apparently FaceTiming with friends or family.
The racy video featured Kim, 42, stripping down and going topless for part of the runtime, which elicited whistles from her friend on the other end of the line, who commented: ‘Your boobs look so juicy and perfect!’
But other social media users, particularly meme makers, were more interested in Kim’s new hair, though it wasn’t totally clear if she had gotten a fresh chop or if she had been wearing extensions prior to debuting it.
Several Twitter users poked fun at the severity of the bob, while comparing the new ‘do to both the Shrek villain Lord Farquaad (voiced by John Lithgow in the 2001 animated film) and the 2005 version of Willy Wonka, played by Johnny Depp in Tim Burton’s film Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.
After screensH๏τs of Kim’s new hair were reposted on Tuesday by the account Pop Base, fans began reposting it with their own jokes referencing the two short-haired figures.
‘And when she sends an Ogre and his donkey companion to save Fiona from her dragons keep, then what?’ joked one user.
‘Okkkk Lord Kimquaad!’ tweeted another person.
‘Kim rockin that Lard Farquaad a** Bob [sic]!’ wrote one user while posting a screensH๏τ off the diminutive royal.
In one hilarious post comparing her to Willy Wonka, a Twitter user wrote, ‘run for your life Augustus Gloop,’ referring to one of the children in Roald Dahl’s Charlie And The Chocolate Factory who falls into a river of chocolate and is sucked up into a pipe, where he briefly gets stuck.
‘And when she starts running a Chocolate Factory. What then?’ added another poster.
‘I thought timothee chalamet was playing wonka,’ wrote another user, referring to a prequel film starring the actor.
‘You see im something of a magician, inventor and chocolate maker,’ one person imagined her saying in another reference to Willy Wonka.
‘Congrats on the chocolate factory Kim!!!’ joked a fan.
‘So quiet up and listen down. Scratch that reverse it,’ adding one person, who quoted a line Timothée Chalamet says in the trailer for the upcoming prequel Wonka.
After fans found the line particularly unfunny, many began to use it ironically in memes.
Others compared Kim to her one-time nemesis Taylor Swift, with one person writing that she was in her ‘1989 era.’
The line was a reference to Taylor’s blockbuster album 1989, which cemented her move from country music to full-on pop after her transitional album Red.
Taylor sported a blond bob for much of the album’s promotion, including videos to singles Blank Space and Shake It Off, though she sported a longer, less severe version than Kim’s new look.
‘I still can’t believe 1989 (Taylor’s Version) was announced 6 days ago like that’s actually crazy. Image unrelated,’ wrote one fan who appeared to think it was more than a coincidence, regardless of their caption.
Some fans also remembered a previous time that Kim wore a bob.
One person shared a screensH๏τ of an infamous fight from a 2020 episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, in which Kim had particularly blunt bob in a scene in which she called out her sisters Kourtney and Kendall for allegedly not doing enough to promote their family’s businesses.
After she hurled a water bottle at Kim, the SKIMS founder physically attacked Kourtney, who scratched up Kim’s arms with her nails before the altercation was broken up.
Both sisters later expressed regret for the shocking display.
