Rihanna stuns in head-to-toe furry look by Karl Lagerfeld with enormous matching hat as she leaves a restaurant ahead of the Met Gala
Pregnant Rihanna made a bold fashion choice on Saturday night as she dined at the acclaimed seven-time-Michelin-starred restaurant Caviar Russe in New York City.
The Umbrella singer, 35, who is expecting her second child with her partner A$AP Rocky, was dressed in head to toe Chanel in a nod to the theme of Monday’s Met Gala.
The theme for the 2023 Met Gala is Karl Lagerfeld: A Thing of Beauty, paying tribute to the legendary German designer, who died in 2019 after helming the French fashion house Chanel since 1983.
The Don’t Stop the Music songstress wore a white faux fur mini dress with a black cropped jacket with white trim in the same fabric.
The mom of Noah, who will be one on May 19, also wore white glᴀsses featuring the Chanel logo as lenses and a black and white faux fur top hat.
The Work singer slipped her feet into a pair of black and silver strappy sandals and accessorized with chunky bejeweled earrings.
Rihanna is expected to be on the red carpet at Monday’s Met Gala and her outfit on Saturday night all but guarantees she will be.
The 2023 Met Gala will be the Diamonds singer’s 11th Met Gala.
The Barbadian singer first attended in 2007 when she was 19, wearing an understated and simple white dress with silver embellishments from designer Georges Chakra. The theme that year was Poiret: King of Fashion.
She attended her next Met Gala in 2009 when the theme was The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion. She chose a black silk tux with oversized puff sleeves as her interpretation of the theme.
Rihanna attended the ball in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2021 and even in 2022 when she was in her third trimester of pregnancy.
But it was her look in 2018 for the theme of Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination that will go down in history.
The Pon De Replay singer was co-host of the event that year and wore a custom silver fully-beaded minidress, cape, and miter by John Galliano in a pitch perfect interpretation of the theme.
She was declared one of the best dressed of the night and her look made Met Gala history.
Next up for Rihanna — besides the birth of her second child — is a starring role in the Smurfs movie.
She surprised fans at CinemaCon Day in Las Vegas on Thursday to announce she will voice Smurfette the upcoming movie.
‘I tried to get the Papa Smurf role but it didn’t work out,’ she joked to Variety.
Rihanna is also producing the film and writing and recording original songs for the movie, which is scheduled to hit theaters in February 2025.
