Shakira 7 Latinas Named “World’s Most Powerful Women” by Forbes

Shakira, Gisele Bündchen, and Sofia Vergara are among seven Latinas representing la comunidad on Forbes’s annual list of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Women.

A Forbes favorite, television’s highest-paid actor Sofia Vergara moved up from No. 38 on the list last year to No. 32 for her work as a serial jefa and entrepreneur who raked in an estimated $30 million last year. Another Colombiana, Shakira, is ranked at No. 58 for her work with UNICEF and the Barefoot Foundation, an organization she established when she was 18 to provide early education systems around the world. Meanwhile, the world’s highest-paid model Gisele Bündchen is sitting pretty at No. 89, up from No. 95 in 2013, for her diverse endorsement deals with Latino-based brands and her role as a Goodwill Ambᴀssador for the UN Environment Program.

Other Latinas celebrated on the illustrious list include Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff at No. 4, beating out America’s first lady Michelle Obama at No. 8; Brazilian chemical engineer and CEO of a Brazilian oil company Maria Das Graças Silva Foster at No. 16; Argentine president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner at No. 19 for her role in digging Argentina out of mᴀssive debt; and Chilean president and founding executive director of UN Women Michelle Bachelet at No. 25.

Snow
