Taylor Swift Continues with UFO Theme as She Attends 2024 MTV VMAs Afterparty in Printed Jacket and Mini Skirt

The ‘Fortnight’ singer celebrated her seven VMAs wins at the Electric Lady Studios party in New York City on Wednesday, Sept. 11

Taylor Swift continued with a UFO theme as she celebrated her success at the 2024 MTV VMAs.

On Wednesday, Sept. 11, the musician — who won seven trophies at the VMAs, making her the most-decorated artist in the history of the awards show with 30 moon people total — was pictured heading to Electric Lady Studios in New York City for an afterparty.

After wearing a beaded Monse minidress with a UFO design on the front during the ceremony, Swift, 34, was then pH๏τographed heading to the afterparty wearing a similar-style ensemble.

The “Bejeweled” hitmaker rocked a UFO-printed tapestry boyfriend jacket from the same designer, which she teamed with an asymmetrical coordinating mini skirt and corset with the same-style alien-esque print on it.

Swift added some extra height with a pair of chunky heeled black knee-high boots and wore smoky eye makeup, completing the glam look with her signature red lipstick. Post Malone and Sabrina Carpenter were also among the celebrities to attend the star-studded bash.

The UFO theme is seemingly a reference to the singer’s hit “Down Bad” from her most recent album, The Tortured Poets Department.
While speaking on iHeartRadio in April, Swift revealed that the “Down Bad” lyrics are about being “love bombed,” comparing it to abandonment and alien abduction.

“Like this girl is abducted by aliens but she wanted to stay with them,” she explained. “And then when they drop her off back in her hometown, she’s like, ‘Wait, no. Where are you going? I liked it there; it was weird but it was cool. Come back.’ ”

Swift wore multiple outfits at Wednesday’s ceremony. She was previously pictured on the red carpet wearing a vamped-up Dior look consisting of a yellow plaid bustier top and attached skirt. She added a pair of black velvet H๏τ pants, caged leather gloves and a pair of Stuart Weitzman’s Maverick thigh-high boots to complete the ensemble.

Swift definitely had a reason to celebrate on Wednesday night, as she overtook Beyoncé to win the most VMAs ever. (The Cowboy Carter artist, 43, previously held the record with 25 solo artist wins.)

While accepting the coveted video of the year honor for her song “Fortnight” featuring Malone, 29, Swift gave a shoutout to boyfriend Travis Kelce, explaining that he was a source of light on set, rendering it “the most fun video to make.”

“Something I’ll always remember is when I would finish a take and I’d say, ‘Cut,’ I would always just hear someone cheering like, ‘Wooo’ from across the studio where we were shooting it. That one person was my boyfriend Travis,” Swift recalled.

“Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic, so I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot because I’ll always remember that,” she added.

The 2024 MTV VMAs aired on Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. ET/ PT live from the UBS Arena in New York.
