Travis Kelce Credits “Taylor Swift” Effect for Sweet Moment With Fan

Travis Kelce credited the “Taylor Swift effect” for why one fan had trouble catching her breath after meeting the Kansas City Chiefs player.

This fan was enchanted to meet Travis Kelce.

While the athlete has certainly had his share of fame as the tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, even he is aware that girlfriend Taylor Swift has given him a whole new set of fans to impress.

And one such fan had quite the reaction as she ran into the 34-year-old at the Chiefs training camp in Kansas City, prompting her to need a moment during their interaction.

In a video shared on X, formerly Twitter, Aug. 4, Travis could be seen approaching a group and jokingly asking, “What are you guys doing in my hallway?”

To which the woman’s husband responded, “Dude, dude you just took my wife’s breath away. Literally, she just almost died there.”

And Travis knew exactly why that was: “Taylor Swift effect, dude.”

The “Taylor Swift effect” has been working in more ways than one, with Travis recently paying homage to the first time he met the “So High School” singer with his training camp mustachioed look. It’s not lost on him how important that facial hair is to his and Taylor’s love story.

“I’ll tell you what that ‘stache and the 87 jersey was pretty iconic there for a bit,” Travis explained during a press conference in October 2023. “I had it when I met Taylor for the first time.”

Since that fateful meeting last year, the couple has been inseparable, with the NFL tight end recently hopping over to Germany to watch Taylor’s Eras Tour performance ahead of reporting to camp.

During the July 17 concert, the 34-year-old seemingly gave her boyfriend a sweet nod, singing a mashup of “Invisible String” and “Superstar”—and fans were overjoyed by the medley.

“The IMPLICATIONS of mashing up Superstar with Invisible String,” one user wrote on X. “The superstardom that tied them together for years before they met…the inevitability of their mutual awe for each other….but the ability to see each other clearly through the haze of fame anyway…I am unwell.”

But Taylor’s not the only one dedicating songs, as Travis recently joined in a charity karaoke contest at the 35th Annual American Century Championship golf tournament in California July 11, where he won after singing Whitesnake’s “Here I Go Again,” adding, “Taylor, this is for you.”

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s love story began in July 2023, when the singer’s Eras Tour made a stop at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.

As a huge Swiftie, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end caught the show with hopes of giving Taylor a friendship bracelet with his number on it. However, he failed to complete the pᴀss due to her pre-show rituals.

“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Travis shared on the July 26 episode of his New Heights podcast. “So, I was a little ʙuтт-hurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”

Summer 2023: This Is Him Trying

After publicly recounting his fumble—a move Taylor would later describe as “metal as hell”—Travis decided to shoot his sH๏τ and invite the Grammy winner to watch the Chiefs play at Arrowhead Stadium.

“I threw it out there, I threw the ball in her court,” he shared on The Pat McAfee Show. “I told her, you know, ‘I’ve seen you rock the stage in Arrowhead, you might have to come see me rock the stage in Arrowhead and see which one’s a little more lit.’ So, we’ll see what happens in the near future.”

Travis was rocking a mustache—which he debuted in August during training camp—when he was first introduced to Taylor.

As he later noted of the era, “That ‘stache and the 87 jersey was pretty iconic there for a little bit, and I had it when I met Taylor for the first time.”

By early September, a source close to the situation told E! News that Travis and Taylor were “texting and talking here and there.”

“It’s been very low-key,” the insider explained, “as he’s been in season.”

Accepting Travis’ invite, Taylor joined the athlete’s mom Donna Kelce at Arrowhead Stadium to watch him and the Chiefs take on the Chicago Bears. After the game, Taylor and Travis were seen packing PDA at a local bar.

Though folklore had it that it was the couple’s first in-person meeting, the “Karma” singer later clarified the two had spent a “significant amount of time” getting to know each other beforehand.
